When fans of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows saw the two-way mirror shard from the movie. They didn’t understand why it didn’t make sense. The Harry Potter books are known for their attention to detail. The screen adjustments are strong interpretations of the books in light of how much material had to be cut for the movies. However, the film didn’t go into great detail about a magical two-way mirror shard. That Harry carried with him through The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. It turned out to be an existing plot device. But the movie didn’t explain why.
At some point, Albus Dumbledore started to appear in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. He was seen in the small, broken mirror that Harry had. Harry used the piece to call for help when he and his friends were stuck in Malfoy Manor. Dobby came to help, and Harry thanked him for coming. This is what they found out about Dumbledore’s brother, Aberforth, in The Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Aberforth had the rest of the mirror. Aberforth said that he got it from Sirius Black’s house through Mundungus Fletcher and that he had been watching Harry as he went to find Voldemort’s Horcruxes on his way to Sirius Black’s house.
This isn’t a bad thing, though. Sirius gave Harry a two-way mirror to let them talk while Harry was at Hogwarts. The films didn’t explain why the mirror was there, how Harry knew it belonged to Sirius Black, or how Aberforth knew he could use it to keep an eye on Harry. Harry Potter and the Order of the Nova didn’t have this magical item, so the Deathly Hallows movies only talked about it in a very general way. The film left a big hole in the Harry Potter world because it didn’t include a small detail from the book.
Two-way mirrors were more critical in the novel version of The Order of the Phoenix. Early on, their introduction to the series better prepared them for their roles in The Deathly Hallows. Which came out a few years after the novel. Sirius Black gave Harry a two-way mirror set. But he didn’t use it in the book, so the scene was cut from the movie. When mirrors were not used, this turned out to be part of the story all on its own. Harry had resolved not to use Sirius’s gift because he thought he might get his irresponsible godfather into even more trouble by giving him the advantage. This is when Harry only remembered his mirror.
After the Department of Mysteries and Sirius’s death. He only thought about it again at the end of the Order of the Phoenix. Before going to the office of Mysteries at the Ministry of Magic, Harry used his mirror to check on Sirius. Instead of using Floo Powder, he used it to see if Sirius was still alive. He found a piece of the broken mirror in his school truck years later during the incidents of The Deathly Hallows.
At the time, leaving the optics out of The Order of the Phoenix movie seemed like a good idea. It is a sign of Rowling’s well-planned that two novels later, such small things could be so important. First-time viewers who are only interested in the action in the last Harry Potter movie will not likely question the sequence of events that only happen because of the mysterious magical object. Some Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movies fans didn’t understand why the two-way mirror was almost not there. They had never read the books. This is how it worked: The movies didn’t give you all this information. The mirror and its connection to Sirius are more complicated than in the film in the novels.
