Season 5 anticipated the Big Bang Theory storyline subtly. The Big Bang Theory’s (Johnny Galecki) and Penny’s (Kaley Cuoco) ending arc was spoiled way back in season 5. The final scene is between Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki). The Hofstadter married for a while, and the writers decide to liven things up by introducing a quarrel that the couple is to deal with for the entire year. Despite dating for so long and married for a few more years, the couple appears to be opposing views on their future. Leonard had a dead set on having children, but his wife is not sure. Before it ended in 2019, CBS’ hit sitcom lasted 12 years.
Penny eventually found a job in the pharmaceutical field, where she thrived after years of battling in her career. She was skeptical about her husband’s idea since she feared that getting pregnant might disrupt her current life. That is the couple’s predicament throughout season 12 of The Big Bang Theory, and viewers had split on the subject. Leonard had long voiced his desire to start a family on the one hand. On the other hand, Penny’s choice appeared to come out of nowhere. However, it had been established for a few seasons that she had always been apprehensive about becoming pregnant.
“The Recombination Hypothesis” was the 100th episode of The Big Bang Theory in 2012. After deciding to repair their romance, Leonard and Penny daydreamed about their future in the film. Penny imagines herself extremely pregnant at her wedding ceremony with Leonard as she chooses her outfit for his date with his then-ex-boyfriend.
Penny wasn’t afraid of the prospect of marrying Leonard, as she would have canceled their meeting if she had been. Instead, it emphasizes that she has always been wary of being pregnant. She had frightened by the thought, so she decided to go to the drug store before the date. As many have thought, it had not something that appeared out of nowhere in season 12 of The Big Bang Theory but instead had developed in more subtle ways. Unfortunately, the program never prioritized it because it was never central to the plot until its final year.
The fact that Penny and Leonard’s last The Big Bang Theory plotline was so unexpected has been a source of much criticism. The couple married for some years, and this dispute has never been an issue before. But that wasn’t the fundamental fault with the plot; instead, it was how it has carried out. After putting the Hofstadters on hold for years after their wedding, CBS felt compelled to give them something to do in the final season of The Big Bang Theory, and it would appear that this disagreement had created primarily to provide the couple with a plot.
Otherwise, the series would have finished with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) as supporting characters in Sheldon’s (Jim Parsons) Nobel Prize in Physics candidacy. The writers magically addressed the couple’s argument by announcing Penny was joyfully pregnant at the last minute. That effectively wrecked the entire arc and disproved her point of view. Penny and Leonard were undeniably in love with one other. However, many fans had disappointed with how The Big Bang Theory handled its last story. If they’d continued to work on their relationship after they married, the announcement that they were expecting a child would have gone over better.
