If you’ve seen How I Met Your Mother, you probably think of Josh Radnor as Ted Mosby — you know, for obvious reasons.

Well, color me absolutely aghast at the news that the role of Ted wasn’t originally offered to Josh…

…it was offered to Jason Biggs, of American Pie fame.

In an interview with SiriusXM, Jason revealed that he actually turned down the role back in the day.

“I was offered the role and it’s probably my biggest regret, you know, on passing,” he began.

“I think I was in a phase of, at the time — it sounds so, so obnoxious to say right now — but at the time it was like, ‘OK, do I want to do TV?’ I don’t know that I was quite ready to go that route.”

One, that show blew up. We all know what happened with that show. And two, I was like, ‘I want to do TV!’”

“I’m very lucky, very fortunate. That’s number one. Great.

As for whether or not his American Pie costar and HIMYM staple Alyson Hannigan ever roasted him for his choice, he said, “We’ve never really talked about it. I don’t know if she knows!”
