Chloe Grace Moretz was spotted out and about in Los Angeles for the first time since she made a revelation about suffering from body dysmorphia. The Carrie actress, 25, dressed in light wash jeans that she teamed with a black crop top and plaid shirt.

Over the last couple of years Chloe had retreated from public spaces to avoid being photographed, after viral tweets comparing her to a cartoon went viral. She revealed that the ordeal took a toll on her mental health and she became reclusive.

But on Thursday she seemed to be happily moving forward, appearing confident as she toted a rolling suitcase. The performer’s long, blonde hair blew behind her in the wind, fully showing her makeup-free visage. Moretz flashed a bit of her flat, toned tummy in her effortlessly cool look, which was punctuated with black, blue, and white Nike sneakers. Speaking about the moment publicly for the first time, she added, ‘I just remember sitting there and thinking, ‘My body is being used as a joke and it’s something that I can’t change about who I am, and it is being posted all over Instagram.”

As a result, the blonde beauty said she became a ‘recluse.”To this day, when I see that meme, it’s something very hard for me to overcome,’ she admitted. And she added that she felt ‘kind of sad’ about the experience making her uncomfortable being in public, although retreating made her feel better. [I was able to] have so many experiences that people didn’t photograph,’ she noted, elaborating, ‘but at the same time, it made me severely anxious when I was photographed. My heart rate would rise and I would hyperventilate.’
