In Seson 9 Of Friends, Learn Why Chandler Traveled To Tulsa.

Matthew Perry played Chandler Bing, a cynical and sarcastic character on the NBC sitcom FRIENDS, for all 236 episodes. Between 1994 and 2004, FRIENDS aired for a decade. David Crane and Marta Kauffman created this iconic show. Surprisingly, the series managed to keep all six main characters for over a decade. It does not, however, imply that every aspect of a character’s personal and professional life was perfect during those years.

Rachel was caught in a bizarre love triangle with Joey and Ross on the one hand. Monica and Chandler, on the other hand, were attempting to start a family by conceiving a child. They later discovered they couldn’t conceive naturally. Prior to that, they had to deal with a significant career change that put their relationship under strain.

This information was revealed in the second episode of Season 9 of FRIENDS, “The One Where Emma Cries.” Chandler fell asleep during a crucial meeting at work and unintentionally accepted an offer to relocate to Oklahoma. He needed to go to Tulsa to run a division of the company. It had no choice but to commute between New York City and Tulsa, despite his best efforts to get out of this new job at his workplace. Furthermore, he eventually quit his job by the tenth episode of the season.

Aside from that, it significantly reduced Matthew Perry’s screen time on the show. Although it was a new storyline, it was widely assumed that Chandler’s decision to transfer to Tulsa was linked to the actor’s personal problems.

Matthew Perry was preoccupied with organizing his personal life.

Perry has been outspoken about his problems with illegal substances while appearing in the series. Perry already had an alcohol problem when he was involved in a jet ski accident in 1997. He couldn’t go back after that. He grew accustomed to a wide range of illegal drugs. As a result, in order to get back on track, he had to go to a rehabilitation centre. Despite his co-stars’ best efforts, there were visible changes in his appearance, such as his weight fluctuation.

Perry’s struggles continued in 2001. As a result, he sought assistance from his family, which resulted in yet another trip to the rehabilitation facility. He eventually returned to acting, but it became a long-term mission for him to live a happy life. Despite the fact that he did not miss a single episode of FRIENDS, the writers assigned him to less important storylines so that he could rest. In an interview, Perry stated that he has no recollection of shooting the series’ various seasons. Maybe it’s somewhere between seasons 3 and 6.

Regrettably, his ordeal was not yet complete. In 2018, the actor was hospitalized for three months after being diagnosed with gastrointestinal perforation.

Matthew Perry Overcame His Health Issues

Perry was candid about his health issues during the production of FRIENDS, but he also talked about how he recovered. The actor from “The Whole Nine Yards” checked himself into a rehab centre in 2001 after becoming addicted to Vicodin, methadone, and other drugs. Following his recovery, he has stated in several interviews that he is in a good place.

When he returned to the rehabilitation centre in 2011 to maintain his sobriety, he stated that he is planning to go away for a month to focus on his recovery and to live a happy life. Meanwhile, he added sarcastically, people can enjoy making fun of him on the internet. He wanted to help others who were going through the same difficulties he was. As a result, he opened a beach house in Malibu for men to recuperate and resume their lives.

Matthew Perry had always aspired to be a well-known actor. And FRIENDS solved all of his problems. Perry told Entertainment Weekly in an interview that he was on FRIENDS for a decade and was riding a white-hot wave of fame. All six main cast members of the series were present at all times. Matthew Perry recently joined Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc on the “FRIENDS: The Reunion Special.” They talk about the show, and it was great to see him on the set of FRIENDS again.
