11 Awesome Facts About ‘The Big Bang Theory’ That We Genuinely Didn’t Know

1. Mayim Bialik was spoken about on the show before she joined the cast officially.

In season one, Raj says “You know who’s apparently very smart, is the girl who played TV’s Blossom. She got a PhD in neuroscience or something.” Two seasons later, Mayim joined The Big Bang Theory’s squad as Amy.

2. In the 100th episode, Penny is wearing the same shirt she wore in the very first episode.

That shirt probably carries a lot of sentimental value to her.

3. Back in 2012, biologists discovered a new species of bee, and named it after Sheldon’s catchphrase.

To honor The Big Bang Theory, the biologists decided to name the bees Euglossa Bazinga.

4. In the German version of the show, the person who plays the voice of Sheldon is the same person that usually plays the voice of Leonardo DiCaprio.

His name is Gerrit Schmidt-Foß. He even played Leo’s voice in the German version of Titanic.

5. At one point a show called “The Theorists” aired, and it was a complete ripoff of “The Big Bang Theory” down to the characters names.

The show starred four scientists named Sheldon, Leo, Hovart, and Raj. It also starred one main, blonde female lead.

6. Kaley Cuoco was absent for two episodes in season four because she fell off a horse and broke her leg.

I think that’s a pretty solid excuse to call in sick!

7. In 2013, Johnny Galecki was the second highest-paid actor on television.

He brought in a whopping $24 million. I bet he doesn’t have to walk to the store. He probably takes a limousine ’cause it costs more.

8. All of the characters that play instruments on the show are actually highly skilled musicians in real life as well.

That is some serious commitment. Mayim Bialik actually plays the harp, Jim Parsons plays the theremin, and Johnny Galecki plays the cello.

9. Leonard’s glasses don’t actually have any lenses in them.

Supposedly, due to the height difference between him and Sheldon, every time he would tilt his head upwards it would cause glare on his lenses that would show up on camera.

10. Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and Johnny Galecki are some of the world’s most well paid actors.

I personally find this information surprising! But good for them. They’ve definitely earned it.

11. The reason you’ve never seen Raj, Bernadette, or Howard’s apartment in the same episode is because they are the same apartment.

The same set is used for both spaces! If you look closely, you can see that it’s the exact same layout, just decorated differently. Well played, Big Bang Theory, well played.
