Also, the boom microphone is said to have accidentally slipped into a shot in a different scene when Joey asks Chandler to see if he can audition for his female friend’s movie. We are now off to re-watch it. Immediately. It’s been 14 years since we first waved goodbye to Friends, but we’re still completely obsessed. Err, who isn’t?
Therefore, we have been left scratching our heads and wondering how on earth we never spotted this awkward blooper. Unearthed by a fan considerably more eagle-eyed than us (via Pretty52), Matt Le Blanc couldn’t help, but mouth Jennifer Aniston’s lines in one episode…as the words came right out of her mouth. In the scene featured in The One Where Ross Dates A Student, Rachel is frantically throwing wet paper towels at Joey’s cupboard. She then declares: “I love it at Joey’s!”
And right behind her, but perhaps with not quite so much gusto, Joey – played by Matt – mouths exactly the same thing. We know, right?! Friends was added to Netflix in January, meaning an entirely new generation is now watching the hit US sitcom for the very first time (leading to a few accusations of the show being “homophobic”, which Matt totally disagrees with BTW).
Along with this new breed of eager beavers, all gleefully looking for slip-ups and mistakes, IMBD claims the ‘mouthing of the lines’ wasn’t the only blooper in The One Where Ross Dates A Student. Apparently, the number of paper towels used in Rachel and Joey’s game and the positioning of them constantly moves after Phoebe enters the apartment and interrupts them.
