Wednesday star Emma Myers lands next movie role

Emma Myers, star of Netflix’s smash series Wednesday, has lined up her next movie role and will appear in the as-yet-untitled Minecraft film adaptation.Myers starred in the Netflix spinoff centred around the perpetually miserable daughter of the Addams Family as Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s (Jenna Ortega) colourful werewolf roommate.But, according to Deadline, Myers will be swapping Nevermore Academy for the Overworld, as she has joined the cast of the upcoming Minecraft movie in an unspecified role.

Little is known about the plot of the live-action adaptation of Mojang Studio’s hugely popular sandbox action-adventure game, but Myers joins Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom’s Jason Momoa and What We Do In The Shadows star Matt Berry on the cast.A synopsis for a previous version of the film, which was set to release in 2022 and was helmed by Welcome to Wrexham star Rob McElhenney, read: “We’ll tell you the story of a teenage girl and her unlikely group of adventurers. After the malevolent Ender Dragon sets out on a path of destruction, they must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld.Since then, the project has changed hands, and is now being handled by Nacho Libre director Jared Hess. Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer have rewritten a previously greenlit script.
